So, you’re telling me that you live in the 21st century and have no idea about the most significant eSports game in history? Then, my friend, you’ve come to the right place.
What is Counter Strike (CS: GO)?
In August 2012, Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment launched the fourth edition of Counter-Strike series, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for Windows, macOS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 while the Linux version of the game came later in 2014.
It is a competitive FPS (First Person Shooter) game which consists of two teams of five players each fighting off for the survival. For the time being the game has released several gaming modes but professional eSports tournaments are always the Ts v/s CTs (Terrorists v/s Counter-Terrorists) matches in which the T-side has to plant the bomb in the two given bomb-sites and detonate it before the time ends and the CT-side has to prevent the planting or defuse the bomb, if planted. Both teams can also eliminate the players from the other team and win the round. In the Pro-League there are 30 rounds of 1 minute and 55 seconds each and the team who secures 16 round first wins.

CS: GO Universe
The Counter-Strike has it’s own community and fan-base which is known for the love and the criticism shown at the same time. On the question – “Is CS: GO dying?”, recently the TalkEsports Magazine replied – “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has a unique player base that loves to hate the game. Counter-Strike has been dying for 20 years and will continue to die for the next 20 years” which is very true. The comparison between new fps games or newer update of the same game has become a norm and the trends and support for the game has taken it to a whole new level.
The reason for this kind of success is its popular accessibility. There are several eminent tournaments like – CS: GO Majors Championship, ESL One Cologne and prominent players like – S1MPLE from Na’Vi (Nactus Vincere) and ZywOo from Vitality; which makes the audience awe in surprise.
Twitch and Youtube are filled with the content made on the game. And the consistent players, content creators, and viewers have always been an essential part which gave the game this much hype.
